The Lakeview Arts Barn is an event venue and home to professional summer theatre company, Globus Theatre. Located just outside the picturesque village of Bobcaygeon. The LAB boasts a contemporary Arts space in a rustic building steeped in local history. Originally a working cattle barn, the building has since been transformed, starting as a dance hall in 1967 and then a venue for the Arts in 2006.
The Barn has always been an important focal point of the local social scene hosting generations of weddings, dances and family gatherings. It even once boasted the largest hardwood dance floor in all of Ontario! Following renovations in 2006, the LAB welcomed Globus Theatre as the company-in-residence. The 150-seat black-box theatre offers comfortable seating and an intimate experience that allows each audience member to feel truly immersed in the performance. To add to the evening, our attached restaurant provides patrons with the option to enjoy a fantastic 3 course dining experience prior to each evening show featuring locally grown fare and a widely acclaimed fully stocked bar offering a large selection of scotches, Ontario wines and local craft beers (reservation essential). No need to worry about rushing from dinner to the show - you're so close we're guaranteed not to start without you! The LAB is also proud to maintain an extensive performing arts library. With over 1,000 play titles to choose from you are welcome to peruse the plays on offer over a cocktail or glass of wine.
The theatre itself is completely removable to reveal the original, stunning, hardwood dance floor and gives guests access to over 7,000 sq ft of banquet facility. Our culinary team can cater events for 120 - 400+ people and offer a range of dining options from the basic to the gourmet!
